National Aquarium in B’mo
I just got back from Montauk tonight… beautiful beaches and yummy seafood… which reminds me…here are some photos from the aquarium in Baltimore from last weekend.

Thievery Corporation

I haven’t really listened to these guys in over 6 years. After last night’s concert…. the conclusion: they still got it. This dancer is pretty awesome, too…
Dandelion

Working in midtown means tall buildings, tourists, lack of good food and lots of fountains funded and built by big corporations. I have a soft spot for these big corporate fountains. Some nights during the summer, I walk through midtown just so I can take some time to sit next to them.
This one is between 54th and 55th on 6th Avenue, it has a twin on the south side of the block. The dandelion shape is just really cute. When it is windy like yesterday, you can stand next to it and let the chemical-scented-not-safe-for-drinking fountain water spray all over you. Like dandelions in the wind.
No commentsLittle Leaf Linden

Have you been to Central Park lately? There was this light flowery smell in the humid air even before I got inside the park this morning. The scent continued throughout the walk in the park and I couldn’t identify it. The smell was so pleasant and made the walk even more enjoyable than it already was.
This tree by the 7th Avenue exit sidewalk had an overgrown branch for weeks. I guess someone finally trimmed it so people don’t have to lower their heads to pass. Anyway, as I am about to exit the park, I looked up and saw this tree and discovered the nice smell is coming from its little flowers. The flowers are clusters growing from the middle of a leaf. Very strange. I saw the same flower/leaf over the weekend by the waters in Baltimore. The flowers there had fallen out of the trees and were perfumeless, dead and dry. It is amazing that the climate and plant flowering patterns can be so different between 2 cities that are less than 200 miles apart.
I had to identify this tree so I took a sample and googled around for a while. It wasn’t an easy search but I finally identified it as a linden tree (Tilia cordata)!
I should have been a botanist. ![]()
Baltimore is a croc

I just got back from Baltimore where I had a sleepover with the sharks at the National Aquarium. Photos, stories and goodies to come…
We took the Chinatown bus, famous for its lack of regard for American traffic laws, and arrived in Baltimore in 3 hours. It dropped us off at a gas station off of the highway and we were on our own. We called for a cab to get us into the city and were picked up by the most ghetto ride I have ever seen. The cab, with its windows down (probably broken) and its “Black Ice” tree shaped air freshener (all 3 from the multi-pack) hanging from its rear view mirror, drove us through the Baltimore ghetto. I wish I had photos of this cab but I was too scared to get out my camera.
We arrived at Lexington Market, our first stop in the marvelous Baltimore metro, for some crabcakes at Faidley’s. Lets just say that I knew right away that we were below the Mason-Dixon line when “Greens” on the menu turned out to be buttered collard greens.

You love squeezing the edamame out of the pod? Me too… With tears of joy when I can do it over and over, too!

I check my Gmail Spam box every once in a while for lost emails and/or goodies like this…
I am not sure how this one made it in there because there is no “V**agra” or “Peni5″ or “C1ali$” in the subject line.
No commentsFriday the 13th

This is the worst thing ever!!! TasteSpotting, my favorite site (this was really on the top of my list) has been shut down due to “legal issues”!
TasteSpotting.com was the one site that I checked at least once a day!! In case you never visited TasteSpotting, it had big glossy photos of tasty foods linking you to recipes/blogs updated every hour.
I was totally bummed when there were no new posts yesterday, I thought the site was broken… Now it is gone. Forever. Where am I going to go for lunch ideas? Dinner ideas? Killing time? I don’t even know what happened!
I need a drink now.

From my favorite website of the day. You can also learn about how to talk to your cat, how to grow grass in someone’s keyboard and etc.
