I want to believe

It was an artful weekend. I went to see the Whitney Biennial on Friday and Cai Guo Qiang at the Guggenheim yesterday. For me, the show at the Whitney was not as impressive as the Guggenheim, so I am not going to do a recap on the Biennial here.
I want to Believe is a retrospect of Cai’s work. I wasn’t too familiar with his work before going to the show, but I think there was a good range at the exhibition. Overall, it was really inspiring and almost brought tears to my eyes. It was so inspiring that I am thinking of changing the spelling of my last name from “Tsai” to “Cai”.

Ahhh I know… his work is really amazing. So rare that I see art that’s both conceptually deep and visually stunning, beautiful even, while also being untrod ground. Yeah. It was the best art I’ve seen in ages.
